Privacy & your data

The short version

You answer nine questions. Those answers are stored in our own database and used to write the page you see next and, if you give us your email address, to send you a copy. They are not sent to Meta, Google, TikTok, or any other advertising or analytics company. We do not sell them and we do not trade them.

The rest of this page explains that in more detail, and tells you how to make us delete the lot.

What we collect

• Your quiz answers. Nine multiple-choice answers about sleep, temperature, mood, memory, your cycle and whether you have seen a doctor. Nothing is free-text, so you cannot accidentally tell us more than you meant to.
• Your email address, if you choose to give it.
• Which advert you arrived from. The campaign tags in the link you clicked. These describe the advert, not you.
• Anonymous step counters. That a page was visited, that a quiz was started, that a quiz was finished. A count, with no person and no answer attached to it.

If you pay the reservation deposit, the card details go straight to Stripe and are handled by Stripe. We never see or store them.

The part most health sites get wrong

Advertising and analytics tools work by loading someone else’s code into your browser, which can then read the page around it — the web address, the text, sometimes the answers you clicked. That is how health information ends up at advertising companies without anyone deciding it should. The Federal Trade Commission has taken action against health services over exactly this.

We build against it in three specific ways:

• Your answers are sent to us in the body of a request, never in a web address. Addresses leak into logs, analytics reports and the referral header sent to every third party on a page. Bodies do not.
• The code that reports funnel steps physically cannot carry a payload. It accepts one word from a fixed list — “quiz finished” and nothing else. There is no field to put a symptom in.
• No session-recording tool runs on the quiz or the result page. A replay of those screens would be a second copy of your answers, held by someone else.

What we do with it

• Write and send your result.
• Email you about this program — dates, what it will include, when it opens. Every email has an unsubscribe link that works.
• Understand, in aggregate, which adverts bring people who find this useful.

We do not use your answers to target adverts at you, and we do not build a profile of you for anyone else.

Who else touches it

A small number of service providers, each doing one job: Cloudflare hosts the site and the database, Stripe processes payments, and an email provider delivers the messages. They act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

Quiz answers and email addresses are kept for as long as this programme is being developed and for up to two years afterwards, then deleted. You can make that happen sooner — see below.

Your choices

Write to hello@gladlyhealth.com and ask for a copy of what we hold, a correction, or deletion. Deletion means deletion: the answers, the email address, all of it. We will confirm when it is done, and we will not ask you to justify it. Depending on where you live — California and several other US states, or the UK and EU — these may also be rights you have in law. We intend to honour them regardless of where you live.

Not covered by HIPAA — and why that matters

Gladly Health is not currently a healthcare provider, so HIPAA does not apply to this site. We are telling you that plainly because plenty of wellness services let people assume otherwise. It is also why we hold ourselves to the rules above: the protection here comes from how the site is built, not from a law that does not yet cover us. When clinical care begins, the parts of the service that involve a clinician will fall under the applicable healthcare privacy rules, and this page will be updated to say so.

Children

This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes, and how to reach us

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we do with information we already hold, we will email everyone on the list rather than quietly changing the date at the top.
